There were plenty of reviews on the Buell Blast when it was first released. It will probably come down to a matter of style. Other bikes in your range include the Ninja 500 and the Suzuki GS500 (See a review in the recent Motorcyclist magazine). Pick the bike that you feel comfortable with. Any of these bikes should bring you years of enjoyment.
Myself, I looked at the Ninja 250, Suzuki GS500, and the Savage when I wanted to buy a bike after 15 years. The Savage was my choice.
